Another, longer-lasting choice in facial contouring called Sculptra contains L-polylactic acid, a natural substance which actually stimulates new collagen production. Results last at least 2 years and often longer, depending on factors such as overall health, smoking status, and aging. Injections are done monthly for 3 sessions, resulting in a gradual but substantial and sustained increase in facial volume. Because of the dramatic improvement in volume, Sculptra is referred to as a "liquid face lift".
