Sclerotherapy of Varicose and Spider Veins

The De Pieri Clinic offers treatment of varicose veins, both for symptomatic and cosmetic reasons.

Varicose and spider veins can occur in the legs, hands and face.

Varicose veins of the legs can cause symptoms of pain, heaviness, restlessness and itchiness. Options for treatment include compression sclerotherapy, laser treatment and surgery.

Sclerotherapy involves injections of medication into the vein (Sclerodex or Trombojec) which cause the vessel walls to seal and divert blood flow. Spider veins of the legs and face are most often treated with a laser, and the laser chosen depends on the color of the veins. Most often this is done with a V-Beam laser.

The decision to use laser therapy or injections depends on the size of the veins. Dr. De Pieri will discuss the best course of treatment for you at your first visit.

Assessment at The De Pieri Clinic includes a detailed ultrasound examination to determine the source of the varicose veins and review of options for treatment.

Symptomatic veins have partial MSP coverage for treatment injection.
